The IT consulting company IBsolution GmbH is once again one of the best employers in Germany. On the basis of a scientifically based employee and management survey, the Center for Employer Attractiveness (zeag GmbH) annually recognizes the most attractive employers among German medium-sized businesses. The “TOP JOB” label 2021 is awarded by former vice chancellor Sigmar Gabriel as patron. This is the third time that the Heilbronn-based consulting company has received the prestigious employer award.

The owner-managed medium-sized company has made a name for itself in the industry as an innovative IT service provider and SAP partner. The consulting and software solutions offered by the team led by Managing Directors Oliver Donner, Loren Heilig and Andreas Mayer aim to simplify customers’ day-to-day work and ideally complement the portfolio of the Walldorf-based market leader. The key to success here is the profound expertise that the IT consultants, who operate from four locations, have acquired. In the knowledge of the commitment of the employees required for this, great importance is attached to a sustainable personnel strategy.

Offering attractive jobs to the more than 170 employees is part of this strategy. “With us, the name says it all,” says Managing Director Oliver Donner, referring to the company name. The consultant also wants to be innovative in terms of working conditions, just as it is in its customer business. The company strives to tailor jobs to the needs of its employees. Whether part-time or flexible working hours – “we can map everything that is available,” emphasizes Oliver Donner. This is particularly attractive for the many younger women who can count on being reintegrated into the job after parental leave. Moreover, working from home has been a permanent fixture, and not just since Corona. For a long time, the Heilbronn-based company has been convinced “that you can work from almost anywhere,” says Oliver Donner. Although a company workplace is guaranteed, at the same time home office is encouraged by equipping it with the necessary equipment.

The consultant also takes care with personnel development. After an introductory program, newcomers undergo specialized and project-specific training units that provide them with the professional tools they need. But the educational mission does not end there; training courses and seminars open up further opportunities for advancement. Here, too, individuality is key, because “not everyone has the same personal development needs,” says Managing Director Oliver Donner. Consequently, employees have a say in the choice of topics. In addition to SAP seminars, the program includes self-confidence coaching and presentation training.

Participation is a top priority anyway. Important decisions are not made in solitude at the top of the company, but are worked out jointly. At all levels, for example, managers help determine the course to be taken. Future plans are also discussed at employee events, and the findings of the research and development departments are taken into account, as is the exchange between the hierarchy levels. Motivated employees are also given space for creative projects. Hackathons, bar camps and design thinking workshops have often provided important impetus for projects and processes, reports Oliver Donner. His employees are so motivated that one of the biggest challenges is to turn the bubbling creative ideas into standard processes. A problem that many others would like to have.
