Innovative approaches for flexible and up-to-date corporate planning – that was the focus of the SAP event “Hack2Build – Beyond a Hackathon” (March 16-24, 2022). IBsolution developed a solution for personnel planning based on SAP Analytics Cloud as part of the week-long event. The next step is to turn the prototype into a market-ready product.

The motto of SAP’s latest Hack2Build event was “Build Enterprise Planning applications using SAP Analytics Cloud”. IBsolution participated in the Hack2Build with a team of six colleagues. Within a week, the experts from the Heilbronn-based SAP consulting company developed a prototype that bridges the gap between a measure-based approach in the HR department and a transaction data-oriented concept using SAP Analytics Cloud with regard to personnel planning. The solution presented was awarded second place at the Hack2Build.

Built for a real use case

The starting point was the real use case of a company whose personnel planning requirements cannot be mapped with existing SAP resources. The solution implemented by IBsolution enables measure-based personnel planning with the help of SAP Analytics Cloud. The planner’s effort is significantly reduced by defining various measures – entry, leave, change, working time increase, working time decrease. Personnel planning is carried out on the basis of these measures. Clear dashboards visualize the relevant KPIs.

Further development of the prototype until it is ready for the market

In perspective, the prototype offers various starting points for further development. For example, the inclusion of strategic content, such as personnel development, training and skills, is planned. Another option is to integrate intelligent technologies such as machine learning to drive automation in business and personnel planning. IBsolution’s Hack2Build prototype has the potential, once it has been further developed into a market-ready product, to provide an answer to the current challenges faced by medium-sized and large companies in personnel planning.
