The Oldenburg Horse Breeding Association is one of the leading breeding associations in Germany. In order to simplify the processes around the auction of horses, the association is currently working on the digitalization of the processes with the help of SAP solutions. IBsolution is one of the project partners and is developing the appropriate apps with which auction organizers, veterinarians and prospective buyers can provide or retrieve relevant information via SAP Cloud Platform.

Oldenburgers are among the most successful horse breeds in top international sport and are used in the classic disciplines of dressage and show jumping. Due to their physical characteristics, they are also in high demand in horse breeding. In order to further expand its leading position in Germany, the Oldenburg Horse Breeding Association is keen to drive forward the professionalization of its auctions of horses. Digital solutions based on SAP are helping to do this. They are designed to make the provision and retrieval of information much easier and faster for everyone involved.

Simplifying the process on the basis of apps

In the run-up to horse auctions, prospective buyers can obtain comprehensive information about the offered animals and, for example, view the health data of the horses that a veterinarian has determined as part of an examination. Until now, this process has been handwritten and paper-based, making it cumbersome and lengthy. For this reason, the Oldenburg Horse Breeding Association, together with SAP and other partners, has launched a project to digitize the recording of horse health data during auctions. IBsolution is also involved in the project. The Heilbronn-based SAP consulting company is responsible for developing the necessary applications on SAP Cloud Platform.

Participants use specific applications

In the future, an app will be available for organizing the auctions, for example. It provides basic information such as the date of the next auction and an overview of the horses offered there. Via another application, the veterinarian in charge fills out a digital questionnaire on the health of the horses and formulates his final assessment. In addition, radiological image data and other important information can also be integrated. A third app provides prospective buyers with the horses' digital health data once it has been activated. This gives them the opportunity to get a picture of the horses' condition in a centralized and uncomplicated way.

Digital standard for equine health data

With the digitalized process, the Oldenburg Horse Breeding Association is creating a new standard for the recording of health data in horse breeding. In the future, all relevant information will be provided on a consolidated platform and can be easily accessed. This not only speeds up processes, but also increases the transparency of auctions and strengthens confidence in horse breeding. The Oldenburg Horse Breeding Association would like to hold the first auction based on the developed apps in spring 2021.
